An episode of ITV Cymru Wales’s Coast & Country programme features the Earl of Pembroketall ship during its visit to Pembrokeshire for Seafair Haven earlier this year.
The Beagle Trust, together with Haverfordwest-based education and science charity The Darwin Centre, commissioned the boat for one day to give a group of youngsters the chance to go out to sea and recreate some of the discoveries and experiments that would be familiar to Darwin. Read more.

Local youngsters got to experience life on – and under – the ocean waves when the tall ship Earl of Pembroke stopped in Milford Haven this month. On June 11, a group of young people, all of whom are either in education or seeking employment, enjoyed a four-hour sailing trip around the Pembrokeshire coastline on board the 145-foot barque. A ship famous for her starring roles in Hornblower and Cloud Atlas arrived in Milford Haven on Tuesday morning, ready to take part in this year’s Seafair Haven Festival. The tall ship Earl of Pembroke, which travelled overnight from Bristol, will be working with local educational trusts the Darwin Centre and the HMS Beagle Project to offer local young people the chance to explore the waterway, and take part in scientific research. The Earl of Pembroke is set to recreate some of the discoveries made by Charles Darwin when she berths at Milford Haven Marina from June 5. The project is part of the pionerring educational and scientific work of the HMS Beagle Trust, the Darwin Centre and the Dragon LNG-supported education arm, the Darwin Experience.
