HMS BEAGLE TRUST IS FOUNDED

The HMS Beagle Trust was founded in 2005 and granted charitable status by the Charity Commission in October 2008. The organisation’s charitable objects are:

To advance education for the benefit of the public in:

• the science of biology and the skills and techniques of scientific observation,
• the life and work of Charles Darwin and the development and understanding of natural history and the life sciences, and
• the skills of seamanship and sailing.

and

To promote and carry out for the public benefit research in biodiversity and climate change and to publish or otherwise disseminate the useful results of such research.
